Understanding Ursa Chat Modes

Ursa offers different chat modes, each designed for specific tasks. Choosing the right mode helps you get the best results.

Ask Mode

Ask mode is Ursa's default, read-only mode. It's fast and safe — Ursa can answer questions and retrieve information but cannot make any changes to your data.

Best for:

  • Quick questions about your account, collections, or records

  • Looking up information

  • Getting help understanding Asset Panda Pro features

Key characteristics:

  • Read-only — Ursa cannot modify any data

  • Fastest response times

  • No file upload support

  • Cannot create forms, automations, or filters

Example prompts:

  • "How many records are in my IT Assets collection?"

  • "What fields does my Vehicles collection have?"

  • "Explain how automations work in Asset Panda Pro."

Agent Mode

Agent mode unlocks Ursa's advanced capabilities. In this mode, Ursa can use specialized tools to create forms, build automations, apply filters, and process uploaded files.

Best for:

  • Creating forms from descriptions

  • Building automation rules

  • Filtering collection records with natural language

  • Uploading and analyzing documents, images, and spreadsheets

Key characteristics:

  • Can modify data and create new items (forms, automations, filters)

  • Supports file uploads (up to 3 files per message)

  • Responses may take longer due to advanced processing

  • Uses specialized tools behind the scenes

Example prompts:

  • "Create a check-out form for laptops with fields for employee name, condition, and return date."

  • "Set up an automation to send an email when an asset's warranty expires."

  • "Show me all assets with a purchase price over $5,000 sorted by date."

Account Builder Mode

Account Builder mode is a specialized mode available only on the Account Builder page. It helps you create a complete account structure by describing your business.

Best for:

  • Setting up a new Asset Panda Pro account

  • Creating an organizational structure with collections, fields, and categories

  • Getting started quickly with a tailored configuration

Key characteristics:

  • Only available on the Account Builder page (Settings > Account Builder)

  • Generates a complete account hierarchy

  • Cannot be accessed from the regular chat drawer

Switching Between Modes

To change your chat mode:

  1. Open the Ursa chat drawer by clicking the sparkle icon on the left navigation bar.

  2. Look for the mode dropdown in the chat input area.

  3. Select the mode you want to use: Ask or Agent.

Tip: Start with Ask mode for quick questions. Switch to Agent mode when you need Ursa to create something or process a file.

Note: You cannot switch modes while Ursa is actively responding to a message. Wait for the response to complete before changing modes.
